Artist's Notes

I found this street scene extremely inviting, with its winding roads, abundant greenery, and pleasant contrasts between light and shadow.

I deliberately avoided painting any architectural elements, because for me, the real appeal of neighborhoods like this isn’t the structures, but the land that surrounds them.  All of the homeowners on this street have created their own little bits of the planet. 

Happily, the results complement one another in a whole that’s a lot more interesting than if any single person had designed it all.
