Artist's Notes

Years ago, when the California Aqueduct first opened up to bicyclists, I didn't expect much from a man-made, largely concrete-lined trench that was devoid of trees, reeds, lily pads, side pools, and all the other customary accoutrements of significant bodies of water.

Yet when I saw it, I was immediately struck by its simple lyricism.

It's the basic elements of earth, sky, and water... in about as pure a form as you'll find them.
