Our content is oriented toward real observations about the real world by real people.  We enjoy demonstrating that there's more that's worth reading than just what comes out of the major media.

If you feel your writing meets these criteria, we'd like to see it.

Like any publication, we make our selections based on our own best judgment about what we believe our readers will enjoy.   We do a certain amount of editing and polishing on work we accept--although not on poetry, for the obvious reasons.

Since it's our goal to connect people of many different viewpoints, we try not to give unnecessary offense to any particular group or point of view.  We don't want you to be bland or "politically correct," though.  We just prefer crisp analysis or good-natured teasing (which can be quite pointed) to ponderous or heavy-handed bombast (which is usually dull, anyway).

We appreciate colorful language, but not a lot of four-letter words that any clod can heave around.  To date, we've allowed the "F" word in one piece (with an asterisk providing a fig leaf over the vowel), because the original text just couldn't be rewritten without losing something.  But for the most part, we'll ask you to come up with a more original way to add emphasis to your thoughts and feelings.

The most convenient format for us is a Microsoft Word document.  We prefer not to have to deal with a lot of exotic paragraph spacings and other advanced formatting, but normal things like italics and boldface type are fine.

If you'd like us to have a look at something you've written, please e-mail it to:

If we publish your work, you'll retain all rights to it, and we'll include a copyright notice to that effect.
